Sandstorm and my washing machine......

Can you say frustration? Can YOU? Please say it for me a second time!! How about royally pissed off? Ya....I think that explains the feeling well.....

WHY?

Well, my washing machine has been broken since last Sunday.....9 days ago. I have MAJOR laundry to wash.....I mean...we have surpassed a mountain pplz!! So I called the repair company and they told me they'll come Monday. And every day since Monday....there has been one problem or another, and they haven't come.

The truck broke down on them twice, they got tied up with other work....you name it. Then on the Sunday just passed.....the truck broke down AGAIN! I called them when they didn't show up.....and I just about FLIPPED! They promised me they'll come Tuesday....the man on the phone told me that if ANYTHING were to happen on Tuesday...that'll he'll come HIMSELF and fix the machine. What I really wanted to do was yell and scream on the phone, tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine....get some local repair guy....and say....the HELL WITH THIS!

But I didn't do that.....nope. Why do I want this repair company? Well, they are the company repair ppl....not just some little company.....they changed the motor on my 10 yr old washing machine back in Sept. So I'd prefer to have them come again.

So here it is TUESDAY morning.....well...almost 12 noon now.....it's been a raging sandstorm since 10 am. This one is particularly bad.....we get sandstorms just before spring all the time. But todays is something else. Yellow skies....zero visibility.....strong hard winds....

And what is going thru Safa's mind? THE WASHING MACHINE PPL!!! So I call them....frantic, desperate....R U COMING?

No.

"did you see the weather? How can we come like that?"

I told the guy...well the weather outside is like that...but inside my apt, I swear there's no wind. But that did no good....so...the repairman has found a new excuse....the weather.

SIGH!

He has a wife and children in Egypt and he was going to bring them in May to Blacksburg.

Please keep him and all of the families in your du'aa insha'Allah.

If you've ever deserved the right to send all that laundry away, today is the day, Safa!. Even if they come and fix the machine, you will have to hang all that dirty laundry inside because of the hamseins.

Assalamu Alaikum!

Ha ha ha ha that's actually pretty funny and cute how you wrote the story, masha'allah!

Those son of a guns...so inconsiderate. Couldn't even drive in a sandstorm for a 7 month pregnant, due in a few weeks, mommy. Heartless! :)

I hate to say it, but you are being scammed by these guys. First, you should have just bought a new machine when the motor broke on the 10 year old one. Then to suggest a $520 repair on a 10 year old machine is ridiculous! I have fixed washing machines many times and it is MUCH more cost effective to just replace the machine at this point. They'll probably put in a used transmission on this one and you'll never know it (if that is really what is wrong - what were the symptons? - did it fill with water but not agitate?). You should cancel this repair and by a brand new machine that will last another 10 years before it's too late!!!

I know I"m being scammed Anon...SIGH! But it's basically too late....when the motor went in the first place..I was saying NEW and hubby was saying FIX. Go figure. One thing I have to admit...is that I have an excellent washing machine...it's a heavy duty top loader....no longer being sold in Egypt. At least, not the same size...only the smaller ones. Hubby has said...lets fix this one.....but when we move to the villa...we'll buy a 2nd machine..... The trans that they are putting in is used...ur right....a new one is over $1000....SIGH!!!!
