I did my ultrasound today. And the doctor told me that it's a boy. Pregnancy is going well....but my blood sugars are high. If I don't watch it then I may have to take insulin.
YAY!!!!!ALHAMDUDILLAH! I am so happy for you Safa-finally a boy in the midst of all the girls. Now you just have to be careful not to spoil him so bad his wife won't know what to do with him!!!
Allah is indeed merciful. Allah has sent you a blessing: a little man who will be your protector for your whole life, inshahallah. And at this time! When you need reassurance the most that you are loved! You are so loved by Allah! Believe in this!
Congratulations on a successful baby scan. Knowing that the baby is healthy is the best reward of all. Will you also have an amniocentesis for any further checks?
Please keep that glucose test in mind every time you put something in your mouth. It is so important. I had gestational diabetes both times I was pregnant. The first time, I kept the sugars in check by excercising like mad (treadmill, biking, swiming.. EVERY SINGLE TIME I put even a morsel of food in my mouth). The excercise kept the glucose in check and I ended the pregnancy healthier, and stronger and slimmer than when I started out. The second time around I was lazy and the glucose had to be controlled with insulin shots every night. Not fun I tell you. High glucose during pregnancy is a serious business and very dangerous for the baby and you.
Now may be the time to see a nutritionist and start working out very seriously.
Ahhh, just watch the diet. It would be fair to say that being slightly on the high end in bloodsuger is normal during pregnancy... Your body makes more because it helps the baby grow.
Try cinnamon (500 mg 3x's a day with meals) it helps level blood suger and is considered safe.
Also, STRESS (of course we all know your life is stress free, ha ha) can lead to blood suger problems. Take care (I know it's easier said than done) as much as you can. Do things that relax you while the girls are at school... Talk to people if getting it off your chest helps.
Yeah to the boy! Masha'Allah! Nice to have a new gender... But a boy amoung five women? He'll make somebody a very understanding husband, insha'Allah:)
Inshallah you will have less stress in your life soon and those blood sugars will come down.
*sigh* I so wish I had some great words of advice to make things easier for you, Sister. I have been reading your blog for awhile, and I just feel so bad for you, my hear breaks when I read some of the things your husband has said. Inshallah things will be better soon, I don't know how, but I pray that Allah makes your path easy, and gives you peace and comfort, and much joy in your future.
Congratulations, Safa! I'll chime in with everyone else on the blood sugars and stress -- you've certainly had more than your fair share in the stress department lately. Take care of yourself. Chuck a shib-shib at the wall as needed. ;) (Notice I said the WALL and NOT the hubby!)
I'm on a journey.....quietly taking timid steps as life plays in front of me....I can feel the excitment building as I take each step.....I've got a line following behind me that keeps getting longer..... Come join in the wonder.... Surely someone up there has a plan for me.......
