Burkina Faso

I've been receiving an alarming number of emails from the Oudagogou Bank in Burkina Faso. Seems like they have impossibly rich clients who seem to meet timely deaths. Oh, and they've got a bunch of sneaks who try to steal their money.

It's unreal.

So I've been receiving emails offering me 25.2 million to be deposited in my account because account holders died in a plane crash.

I've been offered 15.8 million because yet another couple and their children were killed in a bear attack.

And the most recent.....18.6 million because a family died in an avalanche.

Interesting, isn't it??

I've received emails from the bank manager, Kabore Salam. From Didi Alcheim and countless others. They offer me a 70/30 split. All I have to provide is account details, passport pictures and open a bank account in Faso for the one time cost of $1000.

Oh, I have all the details memorized. I've heard it so many times. So today....fed up with all these emails.....I replied....here's what I said...

"Oh this is a great opportunity!! I'll tell you what!......I'll agree to me having the 70% and you can keep rest. You had better arrange to take it from my account quickly though. I may spend it. Looking forward to hearing from you......I've got an itch in my pocket!!!"

I received the following email...

"I don't think I can trust you. Thank you so much but I cannot transfer the money to you"

I'm heartbroken. Sigh.

Haha, I sometimes reply them too. Still as poor as ever. Wendy and Wilcox got money out of it though :-)

Safa,
I got tangled in something very similar. Needless to say, I had to pay my bank back 3,600.00. It's all scams from Nigeria. Be careful.
I'm still in your cheering section.

Ha! I do like to play w/ them now and again, too. I once dragged it out, and when pressured by the scam artist I told him I worked for Interpol. I got the idea from someone on Craig's List who posted a thread of emails he exchanged with scammers originating out of Nigeria. He told the guy these long and detailed stories in his emails, though to anyone who grew up in N. America in the US, they would have recognised it as storylines from the Dukes of Hazzard tv show. There were references to how the "victim's" Uncle Jesse was skeptical about sending the money but that his cousin Daisy was behind it completely. Very early on, the recipient of these scam emails started signing them, "I love you." lol....it was hilarious how far the scam artist would go in listening to these tales.
