1 day late......

ASSALAAMU ALAIKUM!!!!!!

And here I sit typing on the computer from our new home. Our new F AM I L Y home...ALHAMDULILLAH!

What a weekend.....I got things all packed in time and then we went to go get the truck. My mom said that she would drive it.....but instead of being a little bigger than a big van it was a 16 foot truck. Mom stepped down and I had to step up.

"HEY LOOK AT THAT MUSLIM WOMAN IN THE TRUCK!!" Pointing fingers everywhere......I had to hike up my gilbab to get into the thing.....jeez! So we get it home....me waving at little kids......LOL!! And I decide to wear jeans and a long sweater for the rest of the day. I have not worn jeans outside of my house in 20 years! Dark blue jeans with a arctic fleece navy sweater and a white hijab with a blue piece in the front.....I looked really well put together!

So we get the truck packed 1/2 up and I have to do an emergency Tim Hortons Run.........while I'm at Timmies.....I feel a draft....????? So I stick my hand under my sweater.....and feel? UNDERWEAR!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Only visible if I bend over.....so we get back to the car...and as I jump in the front seat.....rrrriiiiiipppp!! OH OH!.....

I get back to the old house.....and find........all my clothes are loaded on the truck......and I'm stuck with ripped pants.......are you laughing? I was! So then I find my long sweater/coat that goes to my knees......and I wear that.....at least my butt won't be hanging in the wind....... By the end of the day the rip is right down to my knee......oh it was funny!

~~~~~
We got moved in okay and it all went well....lots of boxes everywhere and tons of good spirit.......
Thanks everyone for ur support and well wishes....I have so much more to tell you all.......
-the hubbex's sad phone call when the girls told him we moved in
-the hubbex sees the kids and tells them beware of schools in Cda
-I go to pick up my niece and the 13 yr old has a heart to heart with her
Just give me a couple of days!
That's fantastic, Safa! It must feel incredible to be getting this new start!
As for ripping the trousers...I did that once in a mall in Dubai. Bent over to pick up my change at the candy stand and, "ooo...it's cool in here." Good thing I had on a long shirt. I was mortified.
LOL.... I think we all have a ripped pants moment. Mine was in the office when I was working.
Anyway, I'm so happy to hear the happiness in your words. You must have so much to do to get unpacked and get the kids settled, not to mention the regular activities of getting them fed and on a routine. I don't know how you do it w/ 5, but you are an inspiration. Good luck and hurry back w/ the rest of the story :)
LOL @ ripped pants..
Great that you just laughed it off. I would have just cried of mortification..
Good Luck with getting the girls all set up for school tmrw. Its going to be hard on them at first, but inshAllah time will make things better. Adjusting from the middle east to here at this age can be tough. Ive been there... But inshAllah they get through it.. and keep their islam strong.
On a side note and out of simple curiosity, did you always wear a galabeya in Egypt? Any particular reason you hadn't worn jeans outside the house in 20 years?
You have come so far in such a short time! And now you're finally HOME. Alhamdulillah!
It's great to see how you are always able to find humor in the big and small things of life. I also had to laugh at the ripped jeans........with all you've been through, who would have thought you'd get a hole in your pants too? lol
Keep going sweetie. You're home. Your kids are home. Let the new life begin!
(And hey, don't forget about that day you're gonna have real soon where you just "BE". Chill out and relax. You deserve it!)
Atta girl!
You are such an inspiration Safa, I think you must be one of the toughest gals in the world.
You should have a cape like all superheroes, me thinkest you are entitled to one. That should cover up the trousertear should it occur again ;-0
Enjoy your new h o m e!
