tidbits.....and tads.....

First and foremost. I've started comment moderation. Sorry peoples. Oh, how I hate comment moderation. Pain in the butt, having to go thru and approve things....but it's for the best. Well, the best for NOW. Let's see what happens later. Bear with me for a bit, ok?

2am last night.....I wake up to the sound of my popcorn munching buddy again. (where the heck is he getting the popcorn from?) So I got up and walked around and sure enough...the sound is coming from behind the diningroom niche again.....so I open the window....get the backscratcher and start scraping under the niche. Yup. Not even 5 secs later, said rat comes running out from the side....jumps on the chair and flies out the window......I slammed that window double time and basked in a little glory. So, insha Allah, I am officially vermin free. I gotta move that niche and find out what the heck the rat was crunching on. Maybe I can try to do that today.......

I'm still tackling the laundry.....I think it's winning tho. After iftar yesterday, sleep just attacked my body and I fell asleep on the couch.....I woke up after about maybe 40 mins and found that the girls had covered me up, turned on the quran, and went into their rooms to start their homework? Yeah...I'm shocked, too???? Their father called while I was snoozing and he talked to all of them....and it seems like they really talked.....he called back and talked to me later and was quite happy. Me too, actually. He asked me how I was feeling.......was joking with me. Told me to go get vitamins.....and confirmed that he's not coming for Eid. I discussed with him the possibility of going to my american friends during Eid....and he was warm to it. Alhamdulillah....we may invite her here as well. I went out to buy shower curtain rings for my new curtain. We have a big half circle bathtub that has a specially made curtain that takes 20 rings....we've had this curtain for 5 yrs. So when I was in Canada, I bought two new curtains.....I was thinking that I could use both of them, and the curtains would be pulled together in the middle. Something different.

While I was buying the rings...I realized that I had to buy a light bulb.....and the man at the store...(first time to go to this particular store) asked me where I was from....(although I speak perfect arabic....I am sometimes missing key words....) so I told him and he asked me if my hubby was egyptian working in this city....and I told him that he is...and that we own this company.....*****......to which the man surprised me and named my hubby's brother. Told me that hubby's bro and him and Habeebee's...LOL...(try saying that in Canada!) Small world.

Salam, Feeling you on the Laundry, once just before Ramadan I actually had NO dirty laundry. I can not tell you how good that felt. I havn't been able to keep it up, you know how much laundry 4 kids accumulate.

I ALWAYS get asked where I am from too, I'm Egyptian and speak Egyptian all my life but apparently not perfectly enough cause I constantly get called on it. Maybe it's just a vibe we give off? Anyway, glad the rats gone!

Salaam Alaikum Sissy,

This experience of falling asleep after iftar is one of those events that lets you know that you have done a good job as a parent. Your daughters are really God's Blessing and this new baby will be lucky to be raised in this loving family.

Love you,
PM

Asalamalaykom Safa,

I LOVE that you have comment moderation now. You have some control. You can at least look at what people want to dish out and you can decide if you want to give it space on the 'net or not.

"To 'net or not to 'net, that is the question."

Salam alaikoum
in French they have an expression for how all the "Arabs" know each other...they call it the Arab Telephone. Don't knock me I am jus repeatin...but that said, everyone knows my husband's kool aid back home. His own fault for marrying an American. The best part was "Yeah I know your husband, his brother is married to your sister, right?"...I don't have a sister.

Aaaah, a lovely post... what you said about your daughters while you were sleeping reminds me of how whenever my mom falls asleep, my brothers and I try to fix up the house to surprise her when she wakes up... I dunno why we do it only when she takes a nap and then whine about it when she tells us to do it later :P
Maybe it's the warm fuzzy feeling we get when we do something that we haven't been told to do... and for me, seeing my mum sleeping serenely, untroubled by anything, makes me feel almost maternal!
