Made in China......

My 9 yr old daughter is having a "made in china" complex. She religiously checks labels, stamps, bottles....u name it, she's checked it. And just as religiously, she has to bring it to my attention with a sort of snarl.....MADE IN CHINA, MAMA!!!!

I used to just laugh it off....but now she's become sort of manic about it. I've done all the explaining....that some countries are just cheaper to produce things in, that some countries are better at making things than others.....but it's falling on deaf ears. She has now announced that she doesn't want me buying anything made in china. Hmmmmmmmm.

Now a problem has arisen....seems like the toy life preserver that we have is made in china.....I was hoping that she wouldn't notice....but just this morning, she found it stamped into the plastic and threw it on the floor like a yucky spider. "MADE IN CHINA!!! I CAN"T BELIEVE IT!! " she yelled. So it seems that she'd rather us die than hold on to a made in china life preserver. Where the heck will this go??

Here are some of the things she started saying this morning after the life preserver incident...

* Mama, why does China make so much stuff?

*does china make little girls work?

*I don't like Chinese stuff cuz they make too much stuff.

*Maybe if I go to China, I'll like them. But here in Egypt...I don't like them.

*How come Egypt buys so much China stuff?

*Mama, is our TV made in China? I can't find the label. I'm not sure.....would you stop watching TV if it was?......YES, I WOULD!! But don't check the label, that's ok.

*Are you writing down what I'm saying??

Oops. Yes I was. I just wanted to share my daughters "Made in China" complex with everyone. You know, she has this annoying habit of counting her fingers, too. Does it all the time....sometimes even when she's sleeping............maybe as a joke I'll tell her that dreams are Made in China.........now that's a label she'd never find.....!!!
