oh here's some rambling.......

My American friend and I decided to head over to the 6th of October city....(LOLOL, ...seems like in Egypt they just aren't so creative with city names)
So we decided to head over there because they have a superstore there called Hyper 1. It's HUGE like Carrefours and I've never been there. Although she's gone a few times. It was my first time ever to drive all the way over there, and it was pretty easy driving...highway the whole way. And with yesterday being Friday, which is our religious day off, the roads were pretty empty, too.
I took my 11 yr old daughter with me, and went to pick up her and her 18 yr old. Nice talking in the car.......and great fun!! Now here's where the adventure part picks up......we get there at 11:20....and find out that it opens at 2pm on Fridays after the prayer. !!!!!! :confused: What the heck are we going to do in this city for 2 1/2 hours? :confused: So I ended up driving around.....checked out McDonalds...closed....Hardee's....closed.....HO HUM! Then we found an Al Baik restaurant....don't know if you guys know this chain, but its similar to KFC....very popular in Saudi Arabia...and we had a couple of them in Canada......so we sat there and chewed s l o w l y.....I mean hey, we had 2 1/2 hours to kill. Then we got religious and decided to pray in the car...:angel:..I found a nice shady spot and we parked and prayed. :angel:
So we made it back to Hyper 1 at exactly 2pm....and YAYAYAY!!! It was open.....we shopped till our hearts content.....comparing prices with the states and Egypt..... You know, Egypt has their own products that are takes from our Cdn products....like we have that VIM cream cleanser but its call CIF. (go figure? Same bottle, same stuff, same smell) But something I was hoping to find, even if it was egyptian made....was Febreeze....no luck though, I did see a bottle of Oust.
The fresh veggies dept is expensive....and since I'd really been up since 6:30 am and at the Farmer's market....I didn't need any. (I went to the Farmer's market...with my sis in law....got home at 9:10am...took a super fast shower and was out the door by 9:45 am to pick up my friend by 10am....I mean...I was running in the morning!!) So I saw fresh ginger which was $38 LE per KG. Which is MAJORLY EXPENSIVE!! I mean...tomatoes are $1.50 LE a kg.......broccoli was $5 le a kg....but I had already told my veggie guy to get me it.......so on the way home I stopped and picked it up from him and he charged me $1.50 LE a kg. What a difference in price, eh? My veggie guy also got me DAIKON...yet another YAY!!:cheer:
So we finished all our shopping in Hyper 1, had a coffee at Cilantro and started the big drive home.....not 20 minutes into the drive we hear this weird noise coming from the car beside us......the car passes and we still hear that noise.....something is dragging...?? :help: And OMG...it's my car!! :help: Sounded a lot like my muffler was dragging behind me and I was on the highway and there was no where to stop....so I got off at the next cut off....and get this......I'm coming off the bridge and across the street is a mechanic and he starts waving at me to stop my car.....LOLOL....so I did and pulled over. He asked me if I realized my muffler was dragging..:D..which I thought was pretty silly, I mean, YES I'm a woman driver, but how the heck could you not notice all the noise??? So he told me it's my lucky day....cuz not only had I stopped the car across from a mechanic....I was also parked right in front of a mercedes parts store......!! :D The mechanic went into the parts store and got the rubber rings that hold up the muffler....and then got the jack and fixed my muffler right in the street!! (Go figure) He told us to even stay in the car....which I didn't cuz I wanted to watch what he was doing. So 15 mins later and $50 LE.....which is SUPER CHEAP....in Canada, I'd have paid at least $150 dollars.......$50 LE is equal to $10 cdn.....we were on our merry way again.....
We took it all as a good laugh and just another part of our super adventure day.......instead of making it home at around 3 pm....we finally rolled in the door at just after 7pm!! I was dead...:yawn:..but felt great......had a wonderful day with my friend, and just enough adventure to remember for years to come......had to share that with all of you guys.....
