WELCOME to Fantasy Island!!!!!

Do you remember the old episodes of Fantasy Island? Perhaps you were like me, waiting for the new episodes??? Didn't you wish with all your heart that Fantasy Island truly existed?
As a child I went from Michael Landon being a father figure to Ricardo Montalban. They were both my heroes! Michael Landon being the perfect family man thru hard work and love. And Ricardo by his ability to make your dreams come true. Even to help you realize that your dreams were better left that way. Just dreams.

Many of my commentors warn me of this. Telling me eloquently or sometimes very straightforward.......
"Safa......be careful! You may get what you wish for, and it's not going to be what you think it is!!!"
or
"enjoy it while it lasts, because its prolly gonna be a short ride"

And you know what is silly? I agree! Believe me, I have not painted a castle on the water as the rest of my life. I realize that there are many, many problems and issues that will prolly take us years to work out.......if ever. I think it's more realistic that we won't work anything out, and I'll just eventually give up trying to sort things out.

The safest thing for me to do is not to blame myself for anything.

It wasn't my fault that hubby took another wife.
It wasn't any of my weaknesses that made hubby take another wife.

It
wasn't
my
fault.

So on to Fantasy Island!

HEY THERE MUSLIM MAN! YES YOU!! THINKING ABOUT POLYGYNY? GOT IT ALL WORKED OUT?
WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE!!!!

You've just approached your wife about Polygyny! The shaytan has been working on you 24/7 and now you've finally told her what you want to do! How does she react? You've blown apart her world, she's crying, she's down.........it's the end of the world.

NOW STOP RIGHT HERE!

Why do you continue with it? Why do you go back and talk to her again and again? Why do you keep bringing it up? Dont you realize that you are hurting her? Isn't that reason enough to stop? You are worse than the shaytan, telling her again and again your pitiful reasons, your justified reasons.....maybe you already have someone in mind? Why can't you just concentrate on what you have with this wife? This one wife? This one family?

Ask yourself some questions........
Is your wife happy?
Are your children seeing enough of you?
Do you realize what you are proposing? I mean, not the happy version that you've prolly convinced yourself exists......but what REALLY is in store for you?
Are you ready to stand before Allah paralyzed?
Do you think that you are better than everyone else and have a way to make this work??
What if you marry another sister and it doesn't work? Will you try again? Hoping to come onto a secret formula that works?
Is your vision of Islam two wives wearing niqab and you in a white galabeeya with a long beard?

Oh, I have many more for you!!!

But if you approach your wife and she freaks out.....that should be it. That should be the STOP that you need. YES, it's halal. We all know that......but do you really want to cause your wife pain? Are you capable of comforting her at all times.......making her feel special? Do you do that right now?

STOP.

Close the door if your wife has freaked out. Leave it alone. A good marriage is worth more than another woman. Truly it is. And what is more......YOU KNOW THAT!

It's a fantasy......
and you don't need Mr. Roarke........
......to tell you that it's not worth it.
STOP.

salam alaikoum
there is a great self help book in french called "responsible but not guilty" and you said one of the principles of that book- your husband getting married was NOT YOUR FAULT. And nothing you did caused him to make that choice. He chose alone based on his flawed perception of reality. He is responsible for his choice. NOt you. Right on.

It's so much easier for a man to sacrifice a dream of his own.......than for a woman to sacrifice her happiness for him to find his dream......if he ever does.

Who is the one being selfish?
