Scratch his back if you want to.....
Okay, enough of those stupid blog hits....OMG.....I'm so shocked everytime I get these wacky searches that pull up my blog.....
Anyhoo....look at what I did today. My 9 yr old is home from school today cuz there was a field trip...I didn't send her on it...so she got the day home with me. So we got up and went out around 10 am.....did some serious grocery shopping....I bought a bunch of great veggies...stuff that you usually don't find at ur veggie guy....but he knows me, so buys anything that he thinks is unusual, and figures I'll come and buy it...LOL! He's usually right on about that...except that time he bought anise root and really wanted me to buy it, but NO WAY....I just couldn't.
So here's the weird stuff I bought....(if I was egyptian)....broccoli, daikon, grapefruit and CHESTNUTS! Yes, I said chestnuts. I've been here for 6 yrs....and haven't bought them...only seen them once actually...but they were so expensive that I didn't even consider it. Well, I found them today...and talked the guy down to $20 LE a kg...so I got myself a kg. Can't wait to eat them. I was humming all the way in the car...Chestnuts roasting on an open fire!....(I told you that you were right on, UmmabdurRahman!) And I bought this huge squash.....butternut squash is common here in Egypt...and this IS NOT a butternut. It's pumpkin like in shape...the size of a medium pumpkin...but the skin is green and yellowish. Not an acorn or pepper squash. The veggie guy was trying to tell me it's a butternut....but I"m like...HEY! I know a butternut okay?....gonna search it on the net to find out what I am eating....
I bought the three yr old a new pair of running shoes...and lucked out and found my favourite brand of cream cheese at this store that I check into once in a while. It's made by a company called Dairy Home.....they call it double cream...not cream cheese. Almost all stores that used to carry it....have now stopped.....so I'm in a rut for some cream cheese...it's not popular here at all.....so today I found this guy had a NEW container full...4 KGs...I bought the entire thing...LOLOL!!! Then I brought it over to my regular supermarket guy and showed it to him. I told him...I wanna buy this from you guys. They promised to have it for me when I want it. I love that store....(it's the one I took the pic of outside once...) So I got all my groceries done.....and just have a couple of things on my list for tomorrow when I go to the superstore with the cannibal. Strawberries, (for the cheesecake, now I got cream cheese!, sour cream, avocadoes, and fresh mushrooms.
I was reading this blog I found somewhere and this sister is talking about how good it feels to have a clean fridge....I totally agree.....and you know what goes great after a clean fridge? A well stocked kitchen....DEFINATELY!
Oh yeah....well yesterday hubby called me.....and I know that I've been talking so uniformly when he calls...I just don't have the energy to pretend that I'm fine...or that things are okay....or that I'm happy.....so usually when he tells me he loves me at the end of the conversation I answer him, Yeah, you too. That's not what I used to do...but I just don't "feel" it, u know? Well for a couple of days...I've been thinking...I just wanna tell him..."I love you so much"....but it doesn't want to escape from my lips.....well, I managed it yesterday. He stumbled when I said that....and then said....I love you too...and then salaam. I think I threw him off guard....but it felt good. It made me feel like someone had written in their blog months ago....about just wanting to scratch her hubbies back...cuz she wanted to. And that's what I did..I just wanted to say that. I'm happy I did.

Asalamalaykom Safa, you scratcher,
That was me...but I think it was rub his back. My hub always has a sore back--probably from carrying around all the stressors this men insist on.
Congrats on your well-stocked fridge! Enjoy!

Sounds like you have a lot of cream chees (double cream). If you have any left after you make the cheese cake consider seasoning a small bowl full with garlic, chives and an Italian seasoning blend. Yummy taste great on crackers or bread also makes an excellent dip for raw veggies.
