I found a book of poetry that my 14 yr old is keeping. I picked some of the poems and posted them. Some of them, I can tell she's hurting, I'm sure you'll read it too. I'm surprised at her use of the word "prick"....lol...maybe she was stuck on a better rhyming word.....I didnt even know she knew that word. I never say it. I like on her last three poems how she's finished them up with a consequence. LOL....interesting. At her age I was a poet, I did the most horrible thing when I got married....I mistakenly threw out my book of poems. It hurts till today. My mom used to think that I copied them from somewhere.....LOL...no Mom, I'm just brilliant! Ha ha! So here we go....a sneak peek into my daughter's world.....

Expressing
How can you say what you feel
when it is hidden and never heals
always there
but never clear
all stuffed up and full of dust
How can you say what you feel
to express is the question
why is it alwys chosen
here, there and everywhere
expressing is never heard
How can you say everything
letters, books...never read
just remember it is said
always there
but never heard.

Is love a word or a thing
how can anybody say such a thing
when its used you can always see
broken hearts and swollen eyes
can't my body realize
how this word has taken lives
always here and there they throw
but never see how far it goes
so now I ask you
how does love grow?

Friends
friends are everywhere
you just have to know where
look up and then you might see
but they're always teasing
with there fickle tricks
even when you are a prick
their lucky to have belief in me
because sooner or later you'll need a tow
for all those who love you
but make sure they're the one
who will love and care
so you'll never need a spare.

Lazy
Being lazy is a sin
you can get up and win
you can have some rest
but be able to be the best
if you work hard you'll be smart
if you don't you'll be a fart.

Marks
marks are hard to get
even when you're all set
your mind goes blank
and then you clank
cheating is not allowed
so take your head out of clouds
better study and show
them that you're good
better do well, never fail
or you will be in jail.

Lies
lies happen everyday
always a different way
messing it up everywhere
but you are never there to care
how do we know truth or lie
while you are always sly
scattering hearts our way
but you are never there to say
sorry or why
you fade with the sky
how I hope it'll change
if not, there'll be an exchange.

Your daughter is sooo talented Mash'Allah, I am concerned though, have you sat and talked with her indepth about the situation with her father? She is 14, I think she can understand more than the other children...It won't be turning her away from her father, I think he is doing that enough on his own!

We've talked until we've both turned blue......honestly....the solution to her does not rest with me......it rests with my hubby.....I'm like a tylenol to her...I take care of the pain for awhile.....but the hurt is still there.....subhanAllah. May Allah give her ease. Ameen. I liked her poetry.....i'm impressed by it......u gotta remember that she speaks 2 languages fluently......she reads for fun in English and we have TONS of books for her...she's read the entire bookshelf...and quotes from books all the time! I think she has this great memory...cuz I could just say to her...remember that goosebumps you read about the mermaid? And she'd be like.....o ya....it was with Sam and Lisa, twins with red hair and they are on their uncles fishing boat...etc etc.....and maybe she read it 2 yrs ago! We've also got this 1000 questions kids ask......LOL! I keep telling her to keep her quotes to a minimum, cuz kids are making fun of her for it......KNOW IT ALL! SHOW OFF! But she's precious to me....and I'm happy to see that she's putting her energy into writing.....sort of like me, isn't it? But I've got the blog.....

Very impressive. She has a gift for seeing things as they appear. She's a straight shooter with a clear mind. Very impressive, she's a healer...
