BEWARE....laughter is imminent.......

Enough of the crazy cockroach stories....you all gotta hear the new one about the killer mouse!!!

We are all sitting watching TV....when suddenly my 9 yr old daughter sits up fast and says.....

MAMA! I just saw something run outta the bathroom!!

What was it?? I says.....she's not sure...it was really quick.....

Well, Mask of Zorro was on TV and I was so busy thinking how great Anthony Hopkins looks with long hair.....that I couldn't be bothered about whatever superfast thing she saw. (I mean...COME ON!!) So comes the dance scene with Antonia and Katherine.....and we are all enthralled when suddenly 9 yr old daughter screams!! (HEY! Its a great scene and all, but you don't have to scream!!)

WHAT?? A mouse?? OMG OMG OMG.....(maybe he's a hitman for the cockroach??)

So all of us jump up and go check the 9 yr olds bedroom that she shares with her older sister. Hmmmmmm......I tell all the kids stay outta the room...get something to smack the mouse with if he comes running outta the room.......so my 14 yr old grabs a squeegee, (the kind you clean the windows with....go figure??).....my 11 yr old gets a shoe.....my 9 yr old sits on the couch with a slipper and says she's gonna watch and is holding the slipper just in case......lololol....and then my 3 yr old promptly starts fighting with the 14 yr old cuz she wants the squeegee!!

So I grab the backscratcher......(I know, i know...we are so hurting for weapons to hurt a mouse)......I stick it under the bed and start smacking to get him out.....nothing......stick it under bed # 2.....and HERE HE COMES!!!!!! I start yelling......LOOK OUT!! HE"S COMING UR WAY.......Everyone starts screaming! (girls!!).....and the oldest manages to smack him with the squeegee and then the darn mouse runs behind the niche in the diningroom.....We all re-position ourselves........

backscratcher, squeegee, shoe, sandal and broom.....(Oh yeah....my three yr old finally settled on the broom)

I move the niche away from the wall....and OMG! I can see him.....its a RAT!! So I start tapping again.....and HERE HE GOES AGAIN!!.....I yell LOOK OUT GIRLS!! (they all start to scream again.....mannnnnnnn!!) My oldest gets him with the squeegee again! (darn she's good with the squeegee!!) and he's still running....right into my room....sheesh!

So my 11yr old gets an idea......she says...well, we know he's in Mama's room...so lets close the other 2 bedroom doors and put a towel in front so he can't get back in......(those brains are from me, OK??)...so we proceed.....close the doors...including the bathroom door....open up both balconies (so he can run out) and reposition again.

Backscratcher, squeegee, shoe, sandal and broom.

I enter my room.....OMG! We see the mouse take a flying leap at what he thinks is an open window....but it ain't....just wonderfully clean thanks to my new vinegar wash...(LOLOL!! Thanks Sunshine)....He bounces off the window and falls to the ground. All of us die laughing in hysterics....NOW DO WE KNOW FUNNY OR WHAT!!! When we all catch our breath and get back to the task at hand....I go in and start smacking around under the window......HERE HE COMES AGAIN......girls start screaming.....and my oldest, GETS HIM WITH THE SQUEEGEE AGAIN!!! And he's still running!!!

Into the kitchen....GRRRR!! Now this is gonna be hard......so I have this one cupboard in there that is open from the back....and after desperate smacking around...and no luck...I think to look in there.....and guess what guys!! Yep...he's sitting there...panting away....thoroughly disgusted at this house of girls...and probably fed up with all the high pitched screaming........I quietly tell the girls......he's gonna come running now...don't scream....

So I make a quick move and HE"S OFF.....my oldest gets him with the squeegee (AGAIN!!!), the shoe girl freezes and screams....sandal girl on the couch now says....I SEE THE MOUSE!!..(brilliant)...and broom child is yelling BE CAREFUL!!......and straight out the balcony door he goes, to fresh air, salvation and at last, some tranquility.

The entire episode took a good 30 minutes....we put away our weapons....laugh about the mouse bouncing off the window.....and finally calm down......turn back to the Mask of Zorro and watch Antonia telling his little baby the bedtime story....awwwwww.....tears come to all of our eyes.....when it's done....I turn it off and tell all my little warriors...time for bed.....that's enough emotion for one night......

Seems like my house is quite busy this summer......it's a mafia I tell ya....the cockroach sent the mouse...and the mouse didn't succeed either....so who do you think he'll send??

I think next time I better hold the squeegee!!!

Oh my God! What a beautiful family you have sister! I can honestly say I am jealous I wasn't there to share in all the fun -- and I HATE mice!

Your daughters are Allah's most precious gift and insha'Alah they will ease the hurt you are going through.

Salaam Alaikum,

assalaamu ^alayki sister. subhanAllah, i was cracking up and screaming throughout this entire post. please, if i was there i would have been as much help to you as your three year old sitting on the couch. in fact, i would have been worse, probably outside somewhere. ewwww, i hate bugs, rodents, anything of that sort. for about a week i was fighting off wasps. every day there was a new one and they all would pop up in the kitchen. it would take me a good 30 minutes to just get up the nerve to kill them. i would be in there, talking to them, telling them salaam and that we both worship Allah so could they please not sting me, and why the heck would they come in my house anyway when they have air and greenery and family outside; it's like asking to be killed. eventually i would give them a nice 10 or so smacks with my fly swatter and then cringe at the thought of having to clean up all their squished body parts. yuck! anyway, i've rambled on enough. salaam

LOL...I'm trying to picture the scene. MashaAllah, you and your girls sound lovely.

Alhamdulillah for small rooms in Ireland. I managed to catch the invading field mouse and release him back into the field in front of our house.
